After the majestic beauty of Mount Equinox, we headed south for a very short hop of about 50 miles into The Berkshires, a highland region, back in Massachusetts. We will be staying at a place called The Vacation Village in the Berkshires, near a small hamlet called Hancock (on the Massachusetts/New York State border and a few miles south of the main town in the area, called Williamstown. Effectively, we will be in the very north-western corner of Massachusetts and about as far as you can get from Boston, whilst still being in the same State. This drive should be a doddle, especially in the beautiful weather, giving us time to explore a couple of places on the way and so we pulled off the freeway, intending to visit the town of Bennington, but when we ... read more

Arrived at Bradley International airport in Windsor Locks, CT, on a Saturday, 8/18/18, around 3:15 PM and sat on the airplane for about 40 minutes in a thunder storm that, due to the lightning, kept the ground crew from guiding the plane to the gate. Finally deplaned, picked up our rental car, and drove to Williamstown, MA, home of Williams College, a rather exclusive, expensive, almost ivy league, small college. Checked into our motel, had dinner, and back to a relatively early bedtime. Up on Sunday for a hike to the top of Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts at 3,491 feet. Started at the AT crossing of Notch Rd. in the Mt. Greylock State Reservation and hiked across the summit of Mount Williams on the way to Mt. Greylock’s summit for a hike of ... read more

6th of november:Today we jumped directly into the maintainance day of the week and joined the DI's in different practical actions like painting, gardening and maintainance of the road. 7th of november:Today we gave the presentations and workshops as we did already in the DI school in Michigan. 8th of november:Today we enjoyed ourselfes together with the DI's in and around the school. We watched some movies together and played a couple of poolbillard games. 9th of november:Today we went down from the montain and visited Williamstown, which is built around a college campus (WilliamsCollege). Since the valley isn't that broad the streets are rather narrow compared to what we saw in Michigan. Streets are quite populated, mostly by students on their way from or to different facilities, coffees, shops, parks or sport areas. We spend ... read more

Today we took the train from Buffalo to Albany, since the wether was not good for hitchhiking. As some people told us already before the trains are not quite in time and also our train was almost an hour late. But there are very comfortable and have a good service on board. We got picked up from a volunteer worker in Albany, who drove us up the mountains to IICD- Massachusets, where we saw the first snow this year.... read more

Saturday night after the show we spent the night in a hotel in down town Pittsfield. My goal for today was to visit the Mass MOCA in North Adams a museum I'd been trying to get to for years. After a wonderful breakfast Bob's Country Kitchen in Lanesborough we drove north on Route 7 to Williamstown. Karen wanted to stop at the Clark Art Institute so we started our visit there. This was the first time either of us had been to the Clark and it's easy to see why their collection is world renowned. The art in their possession is outstanding with so many different artists represented. A separate permanent exhibition dedicated to the works by Frederic Remington and Winslow Homer. The current show in the Gallery is the influence of painting styles by Georgia ... read more
