We were right next to a Denny's so that was the obvious choice for breakfast and it was pretty good. As I am a real nerd I used the bacon to spell out my age just like Walter did on breaking bad. We had a great waitress who kept calling Alex little slugger which was hilarious and we all left behind a good tip. The hall of fame was only 15 minutes down the road and it was an excellent experience. On the top floor they had a full history of the NBA as well as key moments in history at the time, I could have spent all day reading up on everything but I ended up being miles behind everyone else who had moved onto the second floor. The second floor had a lot of memorabilia as well as a couple of jumping tests and as it turned out my jump was actually quite good for my height! On the bottom floor they had a full sized basketball court and an area where you could practice your dunking. On the side they had every version of a basketball hoop from the beginning of the game up until the modern day.
As Harv was trying to dunk he was rejected by by the rim and he went flying onto the floor which was a top moment. Jake and I went to play a 1 on 1 game and was told off by one of the people working there, apparently it stated somewhere that playing a game was not allowed but I did not see it.
We left at about half 1 and had spent nearly 5 hours in there overall, if I had stayed on the top floor I could have stayed there until it closed at 4. It was my turn to drive and our next stop was Philadelphia which was meant to take about 4 hours to get there. However, the sat nav had other ideas and it took us into New York and then back out again on what looked like the same bridge. It took an absolute age to get through New York as the traffic was really bad, there were so many lane changes to navigate which was quite difficult with the size of car we were driving. Overall it took 3 hours to get back out of New York and continue on
our journey to Philadelphia and we all needed a break from the car so stopped at the next burger king. The hotel was about 90 minutes away so I decided that I may as well keep on driving as this would now be my last stint driving the car for the rest of the trip.
We had not booked the hotel so we were hoping to turn up and that there would be a couple of rooms left available, thankfully this was the case and Jake was able to negotiate a discount for us on the room. Originally me, Harv and Alex were going to be taking the room with the king sized bed and the single bed but because me and Alex would have needed less space we agreed to switch rooms and we took the room with 2 queen beds. The best thing was that Jack had finally got the single bed on his own for the first time and it turned out that it was a pull out bed which we all had a good laugh over, Jack would later dub this the 'Philadelphia screw job'. Jack was also part of another hilarious moment
when he claimed that the table he needed to move was not heavy but when he went to move it he could not budge it. Me, Jake and Grant were laughing for a good 10/15 minutes after this happened! Again everyone was quite tired from the length of the drive and no-one wanted to head out anywhere so we all went to bed. There was a massive thunderstorm going on outside as well.
