Woke up this morning; both of us parched. We need to drink some more water before heading to bed….last night “I” kept a water bottle next to me to sip on when I woke up in the night (Shelley will do the same tonight).
I decided on trekking over to the main lodge which wasn’t far away to have a shower in the facilities there. Shelley braved it and remained here in the RV to try out the shower stall here. She’s just finishing now, so we’ll get a report soon.
My shower was in the men’s washroom and change area located beside the pool. Camp staff were cleaning the ladies area, but the men’s was free for me to start using. They have those combo stalls; an area with a large overhead shower head separated by a sliding shower curtain which provides a separate area to change or dry off with a bench to sit on. A large, blue rubber mat covered the whole of the floor so those who don’t think to bring ‘flip flops’ for their shower don’t have to stand on the wet tiles.
The KOA attendant came in to start cleaning up the wash place area. He brought his little radio with him. A song from Journey belted out while I was in the shower. Nice. Tunes while I shower. Then, another song came on that I hadn’t heard in forever, “Go To Extremes” by Billy Joel. Wow. That took me back a ways.
I walked back refreshed towards our RV.
I opened the door to the RV and Maggie is enjoying some alone time in her crate. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going to have some free time at the ‘off leash’ dog park here which is located one camp site down from where we are! This KOA is terrific, we’d come here again in a heartbeat. When I arrived back at the RV, Shelley had a garbage bag (small one) ready on the step. We take it to the end of the camp site and the KOA folks come around to collect the garbage for us. How cool is that, eh?
The plan today is to drive about an hour up the highway over to Cape Cod and see what we can find. Just some sight-seeing and snooping around. Maybe grab a lunch and walk around a bit. The weather is supposed to be really nice, with rain tomorrow in the Bar Harbor area - but we were mainly shopping tomorrow and setting up our camp at the next site.
Shelley is out of the shower. “Very difficult, but doable….the cold water is difficult to shut off….” But she’s refreshed and feeling (and looking I might add) great!
We opted to go for a walk around the campsite instead of the dog park, and Maggie walked the whole way around – we were very proud of her, as that was a very big walk.
We determined that a lot of the people here are ‘weekenders’ because there were quite a few campsites that looked semi permanent.
Off to Cape Cod!
