my face
a good shot of my stitches and broken nose Hello Friends and Family,
as you may have guessed by my current location (still Boston, MA), I havn't actually left the country yet. I'm 1 week late, and i've got 1 more week to go...and heres why:
Table of Contents: 1) the actual story of what happened that frightful night
2) the quick reader's digest version (for those who prefer the quick sum up)
3) conclusions
1) The Red Brick Road: An Adventure in Peter's Park I had a 6am flight on Sunday Aug 30th, and was planning on arriving to the airport 4am that morning. The night started off great and i was right on schedule for the evening's plans. We spent the entire night enjoying fine beverages, like mint juleps and gimlets, at a classy local establishment, JJ Foley's. Some friends and my father all came to indulge in the celebratory drinks, and at 2:15, the responsible side of us decided it was time to bid farewell to Mr. Foley and to bring the festivities back to my apartment. So that we could continue our sad goodbyes and happy celebrations making music and singing, and so that i would be well ready for my

6 days after the incident, what the ground looked like flight in just 2 hours....we were wrong.
Along the way home, we had to cross a dark and dangerous park. One in the trendy south end, with a pretty fancy dog park. A little bit scared of the evil that lurks there, we took the red brick walkway to bypass the rabid dogs that hang out behind the fences. However, we didn't know of the magic that lives there. Along the way, an evil brick started yelling obscenities at my friend and I. As the chivalrous gentlemen I am, i said "****, quick, get on my back and i'll carry you over this rabid dangerous brick" (names are blurped out). As we crossed, it used some crazy voodoo magic and a wave of drunkenness came over me. I stayed up as best i could, but eventually it took over and i fell right on the brick walkway. Luckily, my hands were busy holding my friend on my back, and we were able to break the fall with both our faces. Unfortunately, that bastard brick broke my nose, sliced my face, chipped my friends tooth, and cut her lip.
I wont describe all the chaos that ensued in the

a few days out, livin the dream aftermath, but with a little bit of blood loss, an ambulance came. And after a short 8 hours in the ER, my friend and I were cleared to go. Unfortunately I had already missed my flight and needed some ENT followup to put my nose back in the middle of my face (it was a smidge to the left).
And thats the story of the evil bricks who guard the red brick walkway in Peter's Park. never, ever go there after mint juleps and gimlets.
2) The Quick Version. After a wonderful last night's send off celebrating at JJ Foley's (my favorite and local bar in boston), we decided to take the party back to my apartment. we had 2 hours before i had to get to the airport, a good chunk of people, and plenty of musical instruments to entertain us. Along the way, in the midst of the festivities, my friend **** jumped on my back and in my own excitement of leaving i took off running. unfortunately my drunken mind couldn't keep up with my well trained legs and we got a head of ourselves, literally. Since my hands were busy holding her
My new nose
all fixed up, 2 days after my nose was realigned up, we fell face first into the bricks. Someone called an ambulance, and we rode hand in hand (same ambulance) off under the romantic moon to the wonders of a Boston Emergency Room. And 8 hours later we discharged. I broke my nose and got ~20 stitches across my nose and forehead, my friend chipped her tooth and got 3 stitches on her lip. And if it wasn't for ENT follow up to move my nose back to the middle of my face, I would be on a plane right now. But my doc is awesome, she squeezed me in, and my nose has been returned to its rightful place on my face ...so i've got 1 more week to wait before I get the ok from her to continue on my merry way.
3) Conclusions and if you can't tell by the length of this entry...i've got a lot of free time on my hands. But i owe a special thanks to everyone whose been helpin me out while i'm all f***ed up. Especially Becky who changed her flight to help take care of me for the first 2 days, which were by far the worst. And also to Tim, Asher, Becky, and Reema for staying up all night in the ER, and Truboff and Dov for waiting up in my apartment for me. And to everyone whose been hanging out with me in sharon: evan, tracey, jana, ami, arjun....and im hopin that list goes on!!....hint hint.
But im doing fine, and ill be leaving next sunday. Enjoy the pics and lets hang out.
Next week in Guatemala,
Neal
