Green Monster
On the right. Has a great story behind it based on greed. HEY ALL!
If you are reading this congratulations for making it to the site. This is the conclusion of our Boston trip and my first time on this site. I must admit that I stole the website from Dain (best man at wedding). We took off to Boston last Wednesday night/Thursday morning and have been running ever since. Major objective of the trip = Watch a Boston Red Socks game. Other then that is was to have a good time and see an old city.
Day one was spent flying from one side of the country to the other. Followed quickly by our ability to figure out how public transportation in the Boston Metro city worked. I must admit that it was the hardest test that I think I have ever taken to include all of colllege and placement exams. It is not a good feeling when the locals tell you that their transpo is "moderate at best". But after a bus ride, taxi ride, and a short walk onto an Air Force Base we made it to out place of residence. While not the hilton, it was nice...and cheap. This is the point of the trip where the

Just of pic of the stadium fun began...
Red Sox Game
Instead of trying to break this down in timeline fashion I will present our trip via event. Therefore, the most important event was the game. We ended up going to the ballpark twice. The first time was a night game. I was extremely excited. After a day of running around Boston I was finally going to be able to cheer my team on. We showed up to the game 2 hours prior start. Was able to eat a ton of great/bad food. Shop in a million different Boston focused shops and generally share in the Bo Sox experience, until the rain started. The game was scheduled for a 7pm start. The rain started 1/2 hour prior. It didn't stop till 8. The team never came out. It did break for a half hour only to hear the announcer tell us that more rain was coming and the game was postponed for a time in which neither of us can come. I was stunned that I traveled from Alaska of all places and then couldn't play in the rain. I have to train in -40 and colder weather, up hills, both ways, with no
Cementary
This cementary was the first in Boston. It has a lot of the original "Heros" of Americas past buried here to include Sam Adams shoes and they can't play in the rain.
Now I know all of my friends are about to send me emails as to why the red sox are fairies and can't play in the weather. I must confess that I felt the same way at first. Then I realized that they are playing the Toronto Blue Jays and my "out" has occured. I blame the Canadians and their lack of heart as to why the game was never played. End of story. There is no possible way that my team was unable to play due to a little spitting of the rain Gods.
On a positive note, we bought 2 more tickets for Sunday. Watched them play. It was glorious minus the score part. We had a great time and received our first sunburns of the summer.
Harvard
We visited the campus for a bit to get our yuppie side out. It was actually really interesting..and old. The town surrounding the college is a complete copy of Boulder. Everything was crazy over priced. We actually spent time sitting in a park, drinking our Starbucks, relaxing with our shoes and socks off, counting all of the foriegn
Mosaic
Placed in the sidewalk to represent a list of things to include the first public school cars to American cars that passed by. Odds were roughly 15 to 1 when I last checked (that is including cop cars). Other then that, nothing amazing. Just another college.
Freedom Walk
One of the greatest parts of the visit is a tour that you can do yourself downtown. Since most of the major historical places are within a few mile radius you can walk to them all. We took off on foot and saw it all and it was AMAZING. The coolest part that I tried to get in the pictures was how the new buildings were built wrapped around the old. When ever a person owning an older building past away they would leave everything just as they left it. It made it very easy to see into the past so to speak. Anyways, easy walk that took all day and full of great pics. Just a couple here.
Museum of Fine Arts of Boston
A great stop. We only had a few hours to spend here but could see getting lost for a few days inside. We mostly focused on the older sections. Absolutly amazed me that the paintings and exhibits were left
Bum
I thought it was funny. It was the first one passed out on the trip. I only thought this happened in movies open to the elements even though they were centuries old. The religious section was a high point. We were able to see some painting and statues created in the early 1200s they were placed behind multiple pulpits in Spain. It is amazing to me that we were able to take these and put them in a museum in the US.
Aquarium
Spent some time checking on the local wildlife. Mags is a huge fan of birds, fish and such. I only like the big ones you can hunt so we decided to check out the aquarium for her. It was a good time. We actually had the chance to pet some small sharks and sting rays. I don't know if it was better to do it or watch little kids flip out as they felt the fish. As you can imagine it was a huge family affair and the place was packed. I thought I lost Mags a few times but she always showed up in the nick of time.
Little Italy
Since both of us like Italian food, and follow our stomachs most of the time, we spent a lot of our time in little
P Revere
The man, myth, and legend himself...well bronzed. italy. There was some great food. Italian men that couldn't keep their eyes from wandering. And a lot of NICE cars. To include multiple BMW, Mercedes, Porches, and one VERY NICE lambourgini that parked on the side of the road. Immediately after the owner walked off, the travelors began to stop and take pictures standing next to the car. It was too funny. Needless to say I wanted to do the same thing, but was stuffing my face at the time and chose food over the photo op. Most of the people in the neighborhood actually spoke Italian as a primary language. It was awesome to walk down a street and hear multiple conversations and not have a clue as to what everyone was saying. Also, there seemed to be a grocery store around every other corner that served "the finest Italian product around".
I think the greatest triumph that I can talk about was that of the public transportation system. Since this was our first problem and only problem we ran into daily, I must tell the world that we finally understand how it works. It was full of problems and little loop holes that were new EVERY
Church
This was the actual church that had the lanterns placed in the steeple. SINGLE TIME we tried to ride but if ever, and I mean ever I get stationed at Hanscom AFB I am now sure that I will be able to travel to and from the city without any major concerns. We have mastered the art of riding the bus and trains in large cities and will post this on my resume immediately.
That covers everything I can think of. We are currently in the Chicago airport waiting on our flight. I have a ton more pictures but will pass on posting them and rather show all people that come and visit the house eventually. Keep in touch.
