The view from my hotel, which had the fireman's convention going on...
All today really was an airplane trip to Baltimore, Maryland with a flight full of screaming babies. And random, rough turbulence. At one point, I was reading the book that Isabella gave me to read pre-Africa, The Shadow of the Sun by Ryszard Kapuściński, while all of the sudden, it felt as if the plane dipped way down. Then… 30 seconds later, the plane did something where everyone in the cabin were literally lifted out of their seats. It was without warning and very interesting. After all of that, and the incessant cries of toddlers, the landing was horrible. Once the plane finally set down (woo hoo I survived!), I asked the lady sitting next to me whether this was the pilot’s first time flying. She laughed at loud, saying she was thinking the EXACT same thing. From here, I went to check into my hotel, and then I got stuck watching an hour of Friends before I decided to walk down to the Harbour. Luckily, I had beat the rain out of Houston, so I was not delayed, but everyone else from Texas was majorly delayed. I was expecting someone to meet me by that point. Oh well. Instead I

walked down to and around the harbour and eventually found myself getting espresso at Barnes and Noble reading my book. Eventually, I had some tapas for dinner (one of scallops, and one paella) and my friend from DC that I met on my Italy trip, Vince, met up with me. We went back to the hotel and met up with Sarah, the fellow student from UT. We all hung out and Vince and I caught up before he had to go back. I didn’t sleep much that night because of the espresso, but it helped because I fell asleep on the plane the next day  One thing though about Baltimore - The people there are extremely nice. I had the first taxi cab driver EVER that actually talked to me, and everyone was extremely friendly wherever I went.
