We woke up particularly early to catch this supposedly free shuttle to the Muir Woods. We got to the bus, and there was a $2.00 charge. Yes, $2.00 isn’t a lot of money, I know. But the fact that this amazing offer was advertised ALL OVER THE PLACE made these two bucks a shocking surprise for the both of us. We reluctantly paid the fee, and got to the forest, with the bus ride that felt more like a roller coaster going up and down the hills with the twisting and winding roads. We hiked around, imitating the fame and loved Bear Grylls from Man vs. Wild (Til’s favorite). We had our picnic lunch on one of the bridges over the stream, and eventually headed back. We road the bus back to Sausalito, upon which we meet two older couples: one from Minnesota and the other from Australia. The two were a blast to talk to, and we learned a lot about our country from the two Aussies who have been traveling all over the US and Canada for the past 10 weeks. Well these two couples decided they were going to take the Ferry back to Fisherman’s Wharf instead of
the buses, so Tilly and I decided that “Hey, that’s a pretty good idea!” So we did the same, and were able to actually see the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz Island on our way in since the sun actually decided to come out for a little bit. We were dropped off at the San Fran Ferry Building, and we walked up the embarcadero to get to Fisherman’s Wharf. The original plan was to walk back through Little Italy and see the famous crooked Lombard Street, but we had a slight eye-contact problem, and had to return to the apartment. We made the best of it, and went up to the cafés on Fillmore Street to get some dinner. We ended up at this neat cozy little café where I had a cheesesteak sandwich and some chili, and Til had a sloppy joe. After some entertaining people watching there, we headed across the street to get some espresso and some gelato to continue with the people watching. After we were sick to our stomach’s from laughing (or at least, I was), we decided to head back to the apartment and do the usual picture, video, tv
That's a Big Tree!
And Til is acting like that girl in the movie Superstar... watching and sleep since we were both exhausted. Monday morning, I simple woke up, Til went to work, and I went up to Fillmore Street to get an espresso and a croissant to start my day. I caught a cab, went to the airport, and made my way back home to Houston. It was a fun, relaxing, laugh-filled weekend spent in San Francisco.
