Geo: 43.5636, -70.2006Day 1 - The Coast Is ClearGloucester, MA to Cape Elizabeth, MEWe arrived in Boston two days ago for a friend's daughter's wedding in the Cape Ann area of Massachusetts. The rehearsal dinner clambake was in Gloucester and the wedding was at the Estate at Moraine Farm in Beverly. Both were lovely events, although rain altered many of the wedding day plans.We took advantage of fate and friendship which brought us to Massachusetts to check off two trips that have always been on our bucket list: Driving the coast of Maine. Touring the Canadian Maritimes (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton). So today we began our Maine adventure. The title of this blog is in honour of ALL the businesses in Maine that have this terrible pun in their name (e.g. Maine-ly Quilts, Maine-ly Vinyl, Maine-ly Meat etc etc!). Believe me, there were many, many of them. Carla: Two Fridays ago we made our way from Vermont to New Hampshire and picked a spot in the White Mountains to camp overnight. The White Mountains have slightly higher peaks than the Adirondacks but we weren't to get any beautiful views from the top as our visit was drenched in rain, low cloud and drizzle. A brief break in the weather on Friday afternoon encouraged us to set out for a walk on a part of the Appalachian Way (a long distance East Coast walking trail) up into the hills to take in a water fall. ... read more
