We decided to take a bit of a back way on our drive from Des Moines to Keokuk. After a stop in Pella for some pastries, we headed to Eldon, Iowa to see the American Gothic house. The drive was beautiful coming in and out of Eldon. I think I took some wrong turns and ended up on quiet highways with endless rolling green hills that were dotted with grazing sheep. It felt like I'd stepped out of the US and landed in Scotland. The American Gothic house is in a setting different than you could imagine. I guarantee, unless you've been there, you wouldn't know that it's next to a disc golf course. It really is.
