DrakeSmart and Above The Best Blogger, Ann Anhalt Post Script Entry - April 20, 2009 Twenty days back from Europe and I finally take time to clean up my travel blog. That is, after cleaning up the drakesmart travel blog (journals and pictures).
Reflections of my travels:
1. Going green was a lot of hard work. I mean blogging on two blogs. Timely blogging is dependent on internet access. While internet access was plentiful, the cost was not what I expected. Next time, I will look into getting a pass for 30 days that will take me all the way through Europe. I did not send any post cards and those who read my blogs, enjoyed it, spelling errors and all.
2. Loading pictures- gotta get a better handle on this. I know I don't have to put a lot on the web, 6-12 per day will be a goal.
3. Packing- yes, gotta get a grip on this. Goal of 35 pounds next year. Can I do it? I sure hope so.
4. Tweeting more- yes with an I-Phone or something like that.
5. I did a good job with my list of things to do in each city. Will need to continue with this next year.
6. Buying an old guide book and tearing out the city pages, yes a must.
7. More audio podcast, Rick Steeves get ready for me.
Here's what I got accomplished this year:
1. For no good reason, did not get online to read any news this year. No Rush, O'Riley, AC 360, Van and Bonnie or Geraldo.
2. Did not eat too many snacks at the auto stops. Good going.
3. Had a drink or two and did not do anything that I would reget.
4. Met a really nice group of girl and guy friends. Some will be friends for a long time. That will take some work for all of us, but I pledge to do so.
5. Did not call into work or checked my work mail. First time in seven years.
Many thanks to all who complimented me on my work on this trip. Thank you Clarissa Unger and Judy Sebern Beachy for encouraging me to blog.
I really worked hard to do whatever it took so that everyone had a memorable time on this trip. Like I said, traveling with 50 plus adults is no easy job. We were all sensitive to each other on good days and not so good days.
We were all above the best on this trip. So no more longstory short, it's now "above the best" Ann.
Why above the best? This is a phrase coined by my mentor and friend Russ White. Above the best is his mission statement. He strives to do not only the best, but do it above the best. That's what separates good work from great work. That works for me.
I hope I have inspired someone with my blog work. I believe I too am "above the best." Thanks Russ.
See you next year,
Above The Best,
