It's July, and the 26-days-til-departure countdown is on! We recieved staging information last night, and will be spending the 26th and 27th in Washington, D.C. preparing for departure with our fellow new volunteers, then heading to St. Lucia on the 28th for our first 3 weeks of training. We'll be living with a family there, and attending classes on health and safety, language and culture, and learning the skills we'll need to do our yet-to-be-exactly-determined jobs while we're there 😊 After the initial 3 weeks we'll be told where we'll be spending the following 26 months, and head there for another 7 weeks of training. It's a little strange not to know, but kind of exciting too. Peace Corps works in 6 island nations in the West Indies (Eastern Caribbean) region, including 11 islands, one of which will be our home for the next couple of years.

As we were both working in public schools, we got out for the summer at the end of May and spent most of June in beautiful Colorado enjoying the mountains and spending lots of time with family and friends. We're now back in Indianapolis, packing up our apartment, studying for the GRE (lots

of fun!), and trying to decide exactly what to take with us in our alotted 80 pounds each of baggage. We're also enjoying some hiking and camping in the state and national parks/forests nearby...
