Last week I had the need for a break from the visiting professor gig, so I headed southwest for a small adventure. I drove through Ohio, Kentucky and finally arrived in Clarksville, Indiana to visit the Falls of the Ohio. This area is known for its collection of naturally exposed fossils that can be seen on the large rock that reaches out to and is covered by the Ohio river during the spring. This is actually a federally protected NWR - check it out here - http://www.fallsoftheohio.org/ The fossils are typically of the coral variety and are fairly easy to find as you walk out on the exposed rock.
