1. The article is the dissection of the day of the dead. Miller is writing of how the day of the dead has changed because of the Spanish. The holiday has changed because the Spanish thought it was too sacreligious and pagan. The Spanish worked toward eliminating the ritual because it was not based off of Christianity which upset them.

2. I think it is great that the holiday was changed, for the original ritual showed their barbaric habits and showed a lack of evolution.

3. We have learned of a ritual where a prisoner of war gets his heart cut out as a sacrifice to the gods.
