Labor Day weekend of 2008 we drove down south, to the family farm in Southern Illinois for the Albert family reunion. It was a wonderful trip!
Friday night some of us went to the Edgewood Opry where Uncle Jim got up on stage to sing a song.
Saturday morning we met at the farm and went walking to the family cemetery, the old yellow house which is no longer yellow, and up to John and Donna Kay's. Although we only wanted to stop by to say hi, before long we were all gathered around Donna's table for iced tea and dinner sharing memories of the past and updating each other about the latest and greatest events in our lives.
Saturday afternoon we went to cousin Chuck and Shaina's for pizza, chatting in the garage, and playing games.
Sunday was the family reunion. Many people attended this year (as you can see by the family pic). Dorathy Ellen hosted the reunion at her home located outside of Greenup; a really nice place with shade trees and a pond full of fish. My Dad and all of his brothers were there and most of their kids, and grandkids. The

not so yellow any more food was good and the homemade ice cream was great!
This was the first time that Chuck went with to the family farm. It meant the world to me for him to go there with me and see the places of my past and to be surrounded by my family; these places and these people helped to make me who I am today. I was happy and proud to be home again and even moreso to have Chuck there with me.
I am looking forward to going again in 2009, and hopefully again with Chuck.
