A modern philosopher is Abraham Lincoln. Besides being the 16th president he was known for his great speeches and for his humor. His most famous speech is the one in the Battle of Gettysburg " The Gettysburg address" . It is starts by saying "Four score and seven years ago our founding fathers contributed a new nation conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal." This means that many years ago the founding fathers created America for the believes of freedom. Abraham is also quoted frequently. One of his famous quotes is " A divided house can not stand" that means that America (house) can not stand when it is divided by having half America with slaves and the other half without slaves. Abraham Lincoln was also very wise for someone who did not go to school and that is just very surprising. This tells us that he really was a great thinker. I also think he is a great philosopher because he refered to the past and many people look up to him.
