The fish market - pike market place - Seattle Started the day with a 3 hour coffee drinking session at a local McDonalds - bills to be paid, photos to be updated, researching of upcoming destinations -all takes time but had to be done.
We booked into a KOA (kampgrounds of America) in Union - Northwest Illoinis - we needed power and a laundry. This is the closest campground to downtown Chicago - 50 miles from downtown. The campground is in a rural setting with rolling hills, shady trees and certainly has a country feel. Only problem is - its 25 minutes drive to the closest train station and then a 90 minute train ride into downtown Chicago! This is down side of having a RV in an American major city with a population of around 3 million people!
Never mind it gave us some much needed "chill time". First chill out on this vacation (except for the cruise - but then that had its own stresses). We both enjoyed a full size shower with no worries about running out of water! It felt like a real luxury that's for sure And we've got electricity so I could use the hair straightener too!
This evening we went
Peyto Lake - Icefield Parkway - Alberta - Canadafor a leisurely drive into the town of Woodstock. The Illinois countryside looked stunning. Back at the campground Geoff cooked up sloppy Joes...dessert well that will be Frozen Custard....
Big day downtown Chicago tomorrow.
Cheers 😊
