In Bangladesh, there was an eight story building that collapsed and killed over one thousand workers. As a result, the government appointed an amendment on wages and union rights. The government wishes to mend workers' rights, but they aren't really trying. Although the minimum wage was raised by eighty percent, it only went up to thirty-eight dollars a month, which is basically nothing in comparison to the garment industry income. Furthermore, hundreds of people were killed in a building that had five illegally built floors, but this cannot be covered up by one law that legalizes unions without owner's consent. Even though the government is trying to make things better, they need to really push the idea of union rights and wages.
