I personally not sure if the government should be responsible for abiding by the commitments that its predecessors made. I think it depends on the agreement that was made between the two sides. If the agreement is lawful and fair, then of course, the commitment should be upheld. Like the agreement the United States made with the Native American people. If the agreement was that the Natives receive their own piece of land separated from towns and cities, then that law should be upheld to its full potential. They should not get any land taken away from them because of their small population. On the other hand, I feel like some things do require change. America cannot stay the way it was hundreds of years ago. Somethings must have a chance to evolve, including laws. There should be a jury to decide on what things should stay and change. If a law is fair and humane then the commitment should be held.
