I absolutely believe that a government should remain loyal to the commitments of their predecessors. One reason why I believe this is governments all over the world, such as the United States, remain loyal to governmental guidelines and other documents, despite their being made by past governments. If a government can remain loyal to governmental guidelines and documents created by past governments, then can it not also remain loyal to the commitments made by past governments? Also, countries remain loyal to war treaties and alliances founded by their preceding governments. For example, the alliance organization called NATO was founded almost 60 years ago after World War 2. Nevertheless, the founding countries are still a large part of NATO, despite the fact that their past government created their commitment. The only reasons I think a government should be excused from continuing a commitment is if there are lives at stake, potential governmental corruption, or possible economic or political collapse. In my opinion, excuses such as sheer greed and indifference are not liable.
