1. Piracy still exists today in the modern day world in the country of Somalia. Pirates gather in groups of sometimes 5 boats to take over small fishing boats or even big tanker ships. The modern pirates are usually heavily armed and take over the boat captains in return for ransom.

2. The authorities tried to put a stop to piracy by forming a force called the maritime police force. The process to form it was very complicated and expensive.

3. I don’t think that it is justifiable because it is not fair for the boats sailing the water to be overrun by criminals. I feel that there is no reason to setback explorers on their journey just to get their money and take the lives of those on the ship.
