1. The day of the Dead originated in Mexico. More than 500 years ago Spanish Conquistadors encountered the people as they were celebrating and completing the ritual. The Spanish found this ritual to be barbaric. They tried to kill the ritual, attempting to convert the Aztecs to Catholicism. It is still celebrated today, although there may be different versions of it depending oewe here you go.

2. I wasn't really surprised at the fact that the Spanish Conquistadors found something that they weren't familiar with displeasing and tried to change. I find this quite common amodustheap stories we here about in class.

3. This connects to class because a lot of the times that we hear about Conquistadors, they usually find something they don't like and they try to change it.
