1) What is something you accomplished this year that you are proud of?
I am most proud of myself to have been to accepted into the history honor class because i was always working hard in Mr. Saken's class to reach honors. I wish i was in the AP class but at least i made it into honors in my senior year. It takes alot of work and dedication to move up to the honor classes which i am glad i did because this year in history i enjoyed learning with Ms. Held and my fellow classmates. Also, i finished the class with a 85, i believe, which is great since its not a C. I was making sure that i did not get a C because i did not want to disappoint the teachers especially Mr. Saken since he gave me a chance to get into the history honor class. I was also glad that Ms. held was my teacher cause shes a great teacher and i still remember the first time i met her in freshman year i believe in Ms. Arroyo's class. Well, i am proud that i am graduating and that i made it through history class.
2) If you could change one thing that happened this year, what would it be?
I would change my study habits because I should have studied more for the history tests. There was always a distraction that i could never really study for a history test for more than at least 30 minutes and i regreted that because in order to get a good grade i needed to study for at least 1 or 2 hours. I think it was because i never maintained a schedule that allowed me to do everything i needed to do like study for test. There was so many things i had to do for each class that i did not have time to study. I know that i was procrastating but i think with a schedule i would have made time to study and probably have gotten all the stamps. That was the one thing i wish i could have changed in history class.
3) What are three things you did this year to help your classmates?
First, I helped complete my group projects and i did not only worked on my part but i also helped my group members in there part too. The groups that i was in, we always helped each other which is why i like to work in groups because if you can not ask your teacher for help, you can always ask your group members. Secondly,I helped those that needed help in history especially when preparing for the test.I know that i did not really study as long as i wanted but when i got to school early my friends and i help each other to study for the history tests. I also made sure that in each class that we had before history that i ask them a question that could be in the history class.I have a feeling that if i did not attend UIC College Prep that i would not have had the study habits that i have that involve studying with my friends. Thats why i am happy that i got to go to a school like UIC College prep since they taught me everything i know now that will prepare me for college.Thirdly, I helped my classmates by reminding them of the important things we had to complete in history because with everything that was going on in our other classes, my classmates and i needed reminders of what had to be done for history class.
4) What is something that was hard for you at the start of the year, but easy now?
What was hard in the beginning was to adjust to the teachers like Ms. Held teaching skills because they were all different compared to other teachers. I like how Ms. held taught though because she always kept my attention in her class. She also made my classmates and i get into our imagination to complete work in history class. To give an example, She had us pretend that we were in a coffee house discussing the four men from the enlightment and she even gave us a candy that tasted like actual coffee. I liked the way she taught because she never lost my attention in class unilke other classes which they just talk and lecture. I know that is how college will be having teachers that just lecture but i wish there was more teachers that taught like Mrs. held. So it was hard to adjust to Ms. Helds teaching skills in the beginning because i never had a teacher like that before but it got more easy in the end because i was used to her teaching. I actually enjoyed going to her class every other day and her class was my first class which means that her class made me happy and prepared for my other classes that day.
5) What are six adjectives that best describe this school year?
Creative- I pick creative because in history class we usually always had to draw on our ipads or on paper for different lessons that relate to the unit.
Adventurous- History class was adventurous because we pretended that were in different eras like the time we had to do a project with the silk road.
Understanding- Mrs. Held always made sure her class was understandable and the way that she did that was by making us use our imagation and interact in class which i enjoyed in her class.
Imaginative- History class was imaginative because everytime the students walked in her class, we were like in the era that were were studying like the coffee example that i stated above.
Hard-working- History class was hard-working because in my class we were always working and never really off topic and i think that is because Ms. Held made it entertaining for her students.
Energetic- History class was energetic because we always did hands on activities like drawing and making videos. Plus, A moment that the class got energetic was when Ms. held had Kevyn sing the song take me out to the ball game. It was energetic because that got the class attention since we never heard kevyn sing a song before in class besides music class.
6) Knowing what you know now, if you could write a letter to yourself that would travel back in time so that you would receive it at the start of the school year, what advice would you give your younger self?
The advice that I would give myself is to work more harder in history because everyone around me is good with history. In order to fit in I needed to be as hard working as the other honor students in world history. I would remind myself to study really hard so that I can do better in my history tests and to be as prepared as the other students in my class. Even though i needed to put in more work into the class, I think i still did my best because i always did my work and paid attention in class. I would just tell my younger self to be more prepared and talkative in History class because the more i talk and ask questions the more i can understand the lesson in class.
*Well, World history has came to an end and i just want to tell Ms. Held that i am glad that she was my history teacher and that i will miss her and her unique teaching in college. 😊 *
