Where are you?
Missing you at Lake Michigan....
Well, its late and i'm super tired, but i will startwriting tonight and finish in the morning before all of my events and thoughts leave me. Good luck to all to find that break.
One quick thing, I failed to tell you all about Markuz's 3 second dream. He was driving. At a red light....but still. He look a deep breath, looked at me and said "Woh...i just had a 3 second dream." Luckily i kept him awake for the 1 block we had to drive to the hotel. The real question is, how many times has this happened?
Anyways...
Our shows consisted of 4 Dorothy's, 4 Shakespeares, and one Mozart. Of course we had a really good time doing our Shakespeare's...my favorite show. At our tuesday school, the faculty was ridiculous. P.E. teachers are my worst enemy (sorry Erin). The P.E. teachers made us set up our stuff on a table in a corner and kept there class running until the minute we were supposed to start the show. Of course we started late, but they act like we are an annoyance to there 3rd grade p.e. class where they are tossing a ball. I understand that
Hot Dot
MMMMM......HMMMMM
they have a job to do, but so do I. Then immediately after the show, when Markuz and I were changing, they moved our set against the wall and put our stuff from the table on the ground to move it. No one spoke to us except to ask, with and attitude, how much time we will need. UUUHHH!
Well, I feel better....thanks for letting me vent.
After the wednesday show, i started coughing. There began the attack of the killer COLD (insert scary music)! It succker punched me. I had no idea why. I take a vitamin everyday. I eat well, and work out. It sould be the change in weather. Its been really warm lately...about late 60s and 70s. The thursday Dot was horrendous. I dont think the kids noticed, but my energy was LOW. My ears were clogged so i couldn't hear, and the audience was loud and chatty. I was over it immediatley. I took a nap on the way to our second school and Markuz got lost ( not his fault, the directions were wrong). HE woke me up terrified and we called the school and Doren and cancelled the show. Sad!
We stopped at
Lake Michigan and it was beautiful. Almost like cali, but not.
We left to Elkhart IN where we were staying to get the car fixed in South Bend. WE did just that on Friday and there was nothing they could do. It isn't bad problems, but we were in the area and Rick at Midas had told us to come back if we were close for him to check on it for free. He said we have to take it to the dealer. That will wait until we get home in 2 weeks.
We were off to CHI-Town....again
OH my what tales to tell. WE really weren't in the mood to go out and didn't want to spend the money. WE stayed at a nice quality inn by the airport with a bar inside and a fitness center. We drove to Borders to enter the raffle for $25 tickets to Wicked on Broadway in Chicago. We were late and missed the raffle. We looked around in borders for a while. Walked around downtown and tried to find a show to see. We exausted ourselves and went home. The lounge in the hotel had guiness on tap. We
Sear's Tower
110 stories...tallest building in America...3rd tallest in the world had a few pints played pool and walked to our room. Classy. what a great night sleep.
The next morning we had no idea what to do. We missed continental breakfast, so our first mission was food. We also wanted to take pictures of the Sears tower, and Markuz needed a haircut. After the haircut, we found a downhome country barbeque rib place (obviously not for me) because Markuz had been craving ribs for a while. So I sat and ate my salad.....mmmm. WE saw that "tower" and decided that we should go hime to change. We are ridiculous. we wanted to try the raffle again, but we were not dressed for a show at all.
Back at borders at 530pm. We were talking to some girls who had met Liza Minelli that morning at the other borders signing her new DVD. It sucks that we missed that. As we were talking around the hundreds of people wiating on the 3rd floor, i hear...."Sarah Gawtheeir...?" OH MY WORT! They called my name. Tickets for wicked were mine!!!!! So excited I Everyone else was very modest about their winning. Whatevs. I got the voucher abd we ran down to the box
YAY
SO Excited office. I got the tickets and Markuz and I took a look at the seating chart...Row A Seats 108/109
FRONT ROW DEAD CENTER. We had to wait around for an hour until the lobby was open...so i paced Chicago, got my camera and waited.
The experience was great. The girls that we met earlier also won and their tickets were right by us. One of them had seen the show 8 times, the other 18 times
(between there and New York). Chicago has a permanent cast there at the Oriental who are contracted until October. The conductor was right in front of me. We talked to the band members and were able to lean in and watch them during the show. It was a splenderific experience. Both of the leads were great, I was impressed with Oz, Nessarose, and Madame Morrible. The guy that played Dr. Dillamond was Timothy Britten Parker, Sara Jessica Parker's brother. We went to the stage door after and met the actors and took pictures. It was very memorable and I won't bore all of you non theatre people with details. But if all of the theatre nerds want to hear more just ask me.
WE were so thrilled that when we got to the room, we went straight to the fitness center to work out. Finally at about 3am we went to sleep.
WE decided to check out on Easter and begain some of our 9 1/2 hour drive. WE drove around looking for food and taking pictures of Wrigley field and this car spindle thing before we left. WE couldn't find anything really to eat, and we wanted to get out of Downtown, so we started onward toward Nebraska. Finally it was 3pm and we still hadn't eaten. We were starving and upon the horizon appeared.......a Harrah's casino. If you aren't in the know....Casino's have great buffets. We had to sign up for some porgram in order to get in the casino for free, so I have a harrah's rewards card...just in case. We stuffed ourselves like bears going into hibernation and waddled out.
There was a horrible rain storm the entire drive and we ended up in Davenport Iowa, just outside of Illinois. Its a nice Laquinta. I worked out last night, did laundry, and then awoke 3 minutes late for continental breakfast. Sorry if my writing is bitter.
One last thought. If yo are ever feeling down and out, just eat a buffet. Markuz and I find that buffet eating is almost better than drinking. We go into fits of hysteria after eating for about 2 hours. Life is hilarious. Jsut an idea. The scientific research is on its way.
I'll be home in 12 short days, and boy do I miss you people. Then a few weeks after that i will be back in Louisiana and then off to see my Keesha. I can't wait. Being alone this Easter really sucked and I cant' wait toget many hugs and feel the love.
Post Script: My friend Allen...the guy that was so nice to us in Indianapolis lost his father this weekend. Keep him in your thoughts. His mom passed awya a few years ago, so he's really feeling alone. If any of you are on MYSPACE, he is on my friends page. You should send him a random (hug) message from a stranger. He needs all the love he can get. Thanks guys.
well...As I say.......all the time
There's no place like home.....
(how cliche)
LOVE YOU SUGAR
