Aloha! Tuesday 25th September (my second of 2012!) – Honolulu and Waikiki We had a bumpy landing at Honolulu but at least we’d made it from Fiji! The USA immigration line up was REALLY slow but once at the counter I went through really quickly and didn’t need to do all the usual finger prints jazz, I wonder if it’s because they have recent information for me, they only asked a few nice questions. Our bags were already off the carousel by the time we got to baggage claim. I headed outside and found the Roberts Hawaii shuttle I’d booked and we had a nice ride into Waikiki (saw a mixer truck as soon as we left the airport…already have a USA mixer photo though). This has been a very important year for us. Our daughter Rosanna married Evan in June and now we were celebrating our 40th Anniversary, both in high style and very much budget busters! But you got to do what you got to do. We have been planning this trip for over 330 days in order to use our frequent flyer miles for the flights. Originally, we planned to use our miles to fly from Colorado Springs to Sydney, Australia, with a free stopover in Auckland. We would then spend about a week in Australia and three weeks in New Zealand. Visiting Halekala National Park is a must do when visiting Maui. The park is just a short drive from Kaanapali, the drive takes about 2 hours from west Maui, you want to drive as slow as posible so tha you can enjoy the drive, the scene is out of this world.... read more

It finally hit me yesterday that we were at the 30 day mark for embarking on our trip to Hawaii! I haven't even read all of the materials I received, how could this be happening so fast? There is so much information, its almost overwhelming! Its a good overwhelming though because no matter what, how could anything we do in Hawaii be terrible? Right now, these are our general plans: We arrive in Ohau at 1:40pm on Sunday, 10/14/12; which happens to be our 12th wedding anniversary. We have reservations at the Embassy Suites Beachwalk, Waikiki; utilizing hotel points from Rocky's business travels and some cash for the days we didn't have enough points for.
