On this day I chose to visit Pearl Harbor, only seeing photos and video of it previously. Much like seeing the Lorraine Motel (http://www.civilrightsmuseum.org/) in Memphis for the first time in person, seeing this historic and still operational military facility in person is a must see if you are on Oahu. Turns out this is not where General MacArthur waited for the Japanese delegation to arrive on 2 Sep 1945, he was instead in Admiral Halsey's cabin.

Missouri had two kinds of rounds, one for shore bombardment, and one that was armor piercing. I believe the shore bombardment shells were the 1.25 ton vs. the 1 ton variety.

And must be kept clean. Looks pretty good for its age, and I have forgotten what the docent told us in terms of when it was last replaced.

The USS Lake Erie was present that day, and maybe is a regular at Pearl Harbor, but was proudly displaying its golden anchor. The Golden Anchor is an award based upon high shipboard staff retention.
