Seems like every Hawaiian word we come across has an extraordinary amount of vowels. Wheel of Fortune would make a killing here, selling vowels by the dozen. We are on Maui for the wedding of Cathleen’s niece. It is quite beautiful here in paradise, and while it is hot and humid, it seems there is always a cool breeze. Today we spent the morning hiking to the Nakalele blowholes. The small one was really churning up water while we were there, but the larger one mostly just sent wispy spray up. The water on the north side of the island looked very choppy with lots of whitecaps but is an amazing blue that I’ve never seen before in the ocean. The afternoon we wandered around Lahaina town which is very touristy but also picturesque. We found a little gelato shop that, in addition to having all the typical flavors (chocolate! pistachio!), uses local fruits like lilikoi (passionfruit) to flavor their sent-from-heaven treats. Yum!

The blowhole is at about 6 o'clock in this photo - about the size of a large manhole. Just wispy spray coming through.
