After being delayed on the plane for an hour and a half, plus a 9 hour plane journey to Atlanta GA we finnaly arrived ! I dont think we realized how hot it would actually be... the heat hit us as soon as we walked out the door!!!!! A nice feeling tho as england rarely gets above 15 degrees!
We met my mum and dad at the airport in Atlanta around 9pm ... thinking steve...aka Jason Bourne :-) would be the one that would have problems at immigration (customs) he sailed through, and i was the one being questioned.. typical !!!!
Its May 8th now, so we have been here 7 days! We actually did say we would do nothing but relax the first 2 weeks but i dont think we have sat down for longer than 2 hours! The first few days I showed Steve around where we live, which consists of main roads and lots of shopping centers!!! good job he likes to shop 😊 hmmmm!?! He also met Louie, my dog !!!! Georgia is such a green state with lots off trees and parks around us, so we took Louie out for his first walk into
tribble mill, surrounded by tall pine trees and water running through Steve commented how nice a walk it was although he was a bit jumpy with all the insects buzzing around! At one point he thought a snake went for him and jumped feet!! only to realise it was lou lous lead brushing through the leaves :-) Friday night, we introduced steve to a proper redneck bar ( Rudis) !!!! not one person in there had more than 3 teeth and at first when we tried to speak to them to try and get onto the pool table we eneded up just smiling and laughing as we walked away due to us having no idea what they were saying. Eventually after some tasty chicken wings and a few drinks it did seem to get easier as i think by that time we were all slurring our words and dancing 😉 ..... Oh and guess who got competetive and claimed to have shown those hillbilllies how to play pool properley!!! hmmmmm
Saturday was Cinco de Mayo which is a mexican holiday meaning The fifth of May.. Not too sure what its all about but over here it consisted of drinking
margaritas and seeing people wearing sombraros!!!! Mum and Dad took us out for the day to a food and music festival and showed steve the city of Atlanta after that we celebrated that with another couple who i have known for years giving a good account of ourselves in the drinking department as we all got quite tipsy in Garrys Bistro and Wild Wings ! Sunday after recovering from our hangover although steve never did, we went upto the largest mall in the southeastern states, only 30 mins away from the house. Filled with plenty of shops and food takeouts we spent 5 hours shopping for steves shoes... fun ! i must say tho we did eventually find some, we both liked 😉
After he wore ME out of shopping we drove another hour north to stay with my friends. They are very 'southern' and it was nice to show steve the southern culture. He tried Grits which is a corn based porridge dish that you add cheese and anything else you like to add. (i think its awful stuff but he actually quite enjoyed it) He also tried cream style sweet corn, country green beans and corn bread.
Shooting Range
Steves favorite, the glock. Theres nothing this boy doesnt like !!!!! They took us to the shooting range 20 mins away from there, and we both shot a gun for the first time. A glock and a rifle. I think steves favorite was the glock and mine was the rifle! That evening (on the monday) they took us fishing and frog gigging. Frog gigging is where you have a long peice of bamboo with a spear on the end and you go along the waters edge of a lake through the long grass, leaves and swampy areas on the search for bull frogs. You can only do this when its pitch black so we hiked into the woods and found a lake and started our search, Not being able to see very much apart from where our torches were shining i think Steve enjoyed more than i did !!!..... Those crocky little beggers were definateley messing with us as they would make loads of noise and seem to lead us right to them but then go silent until we turned our backs!!! So to catch them you had to have patience and stealth like manouvers whilst blinding them with the torch light and getting
Shooting Range
My Favorite, the Rifle. the spear head as close to them as possible with a speedy strike, between us we managed to catch 3 good sized kermits!!! :-) After working up an appetite we went back to Amy's and cut there legs off which Ronnie then fried up in a thin batter and we ate them!!!! i must say they were quite good!!! They tasted like a slimy chicken/KFC, we would even have them again! Now after staying at my friends again last night we have arrived back to my mum and dads where we are enjoying the sunshine and relaxing from a busy last few days !!!
We are safe and enjoying our travels, and miss you all xxxxxxxxx

Looks like your both having an ace time! Very jealous! I bet Steve's experience at manhunt helped with the frog hunting!! Miss both of you loads; Falmouth seems very quiet without you! C&C
