Blythe Island Regional Park, Brunswick GA
Trip Day 3
Travel Day 3
Another very smooth easy start of the day. We were the first RV to leave Ellerbe Farm, and Harold was up and working before we left. He had already collect eggs from the chickens, and was delivering them to the campers that had ordered them. Getting out of Ellerbe's was very easy, The jeep was still connected, we did not have power, water or sewer hooked up, so all we had to do was pull the slides in, and lift the leveling jacks. Both of them are done by pushing buttons, Angel handled this while I checked the lights and that everthing outside was clear. I did find one of turn signals on the jeep was not working. I did some trouble shooting but could not find the problem. Because the turn/brake lights on the RV are very visable even while towing the Jeep, we decided we could still depart, and continue the trouble shooting at our next stop.
The trip from Timmonsville to Blythe Island, is about 250 miles and about 4 hours of planned travel time. One of the great things about traveling in the RV is everything is at our finger tips as we travel, it is easy to get breakfast as we travel, and bathroom breaks are quick and easy. We still like to stop about every two hours so I can stretch my legs. The biggest difference between travling in the RV and the boat is, the ride on the boat is much more relaxing and the views are much better than dring down I95.
Today's destination is a state park campground with full hook ups. Full hook ups include, water, electric, and sewer. As much as we like stopping at Harvest Host, it is also nice to stop where we have full hookups. So far I have estimated that we can go two, maybe three days before we need to refill our water and empty the holding tanks. That is the advantage of full campgrounds.
Blythe Island Regional Park is a bueatiful campground. We wished we had our bikes, as it would have been a great park to explore. The trees around our site were covered with spanish moss, there was plenty of space between sites, and the people we met were very friendly. In the future we might consider staying longer. After getting the getting the RV setup we disconnected the jeep and heading into town for some shopping.
Tomorrow we will make it to Florida. We will be stay in St Petersburg for four nights, and in Florida for about two weeks. We could have driven from home to Florida in one or two days, but we are in no hurry. Much like boating it is as much about the journey as the destination. We really don't have a destination this trip, just a couple places we want to see. Our only firm date, is we need to be in Red Bay, AL on January 16th.
Our blog is up to date, and I will try to update it as we leave each stop.
