We boarded the G train from Nostrand and Bedford, transferred to the A line at Hoyt and rode it one stop to Jay Street. Then we hopped on the F train and stayed on thru Manhattan and then over into Queens. At Roosevelt Avenue, we jumped on the Q33 bus which took us straight into La Guardia airport. It was Sunday, June 3 and we were headed to Atlanta. The barebones AA flight was boring and we slept thru the entire two-hour journey. Aaaaaah. ATL, ATL. We had been there before. Back in 2005. And we loved it then. We landed around 2pm, cleared and waited in the atrium for Shanna's mom, Mama Marcia, and stepdad, Ton (pronounced "Toe"). There were platoons of US Army soldiers in the waiting area. The packed area burst into applause ... read more

My Trip Around the WorldShylie Armon I spent a good part of yesterday evening in the Atlanta Hartsfield airport. Anybody who has known me during past traveling excurions I have taken will know that Atlanta Hartsfield is my least favorite place in the world, and that many, many hours of my life have been sucked down by their endless delay system. So when my flight yesterday was announced on time, you can imagine my surprise. As I predicted, I had to check my luggage in Melbourne, pick it up in Atlanta, and re-check it there. The dark evil unholy lord that runs Hartsfield managed to make it so that the carousel that I picked my luggage up from, and the point at which I had to deposit it were on completely opposite ends of two separate ... read more

Of course, I must visit all 50 states, including those that require a plane, boat, or sled dog team to reach. I think many people wish to do this, and they all don't have to aspire to be travel writers! I have made some progress with this map, but as with the rest of the world, many adventures in my own country await! I figured I'd just set some of these maps up for interest purposes as I got ready to pay homage to Europe again (I leave in about 6 days, even though Travelblog posts this entry as having been written May 28th. I started it then, but published it June 19th. There will be various features to get used to, so please bear with me at times! Thanks.). Visited US States Map ... read more

So we left Athens, having done little in the way of sight seeing, and much in the way of stressing out over car troubles and sickness. The next stop was Atlanta, Georgia. We knew the bus needed work, but there wasn't a mechanic in Athens who could do it, so we lined up a shop in Atlanta, and that was our first stop. The Mechanics were so nice it was a little creepy. They took us to get food, and were super chatty and hospitable. They replaced our glow plugs and we were ready to go. Now Gimli starts up like a champ most of the time, and even when he doesn't, we know how to coerce him into starting. We stayed with a really great girl named Danielle and her boyfriend, who we found ... read more

Our official moving day is finally here! We'll be getting on our plane in less than 15 hours and I'm way too excited to sleep...so I'm emailing instead :) I know it's been a while since our last "chapter" but honestly, not much has happened. We sat in Alabama for 2 months...although I took a little break and headed back up to Tennessee the last weekend in March. It all started with the fact that I needed one more haircut and just went from there lol. It really was a productive weekend...I closed out a savings account, met with our real estate agent (to date the house still hasn't sold, by the way), got my hair cut and highlighted, and figured out how to renew Matt's driver's license. To get our driver's license to drive in ... read more

I'm here in the airport, typing this entry on my laptop while surrounded by the typical airline menagerie: The over-caffeinated guy, the one person in the corner reading a magazine upside-down, and those to my left and right looking at my laptop screen. Yes, you two, I mean you. Go away.... read more

Sunday, March 25, 2007 - Atlanta Underground, Atlanta, GA I hardly can recall on how a marathon would do such harm to your body from my past Marine Corps Marathon, which took place six months ago (see ). A hostile reminder, however, was inevitably after completing another 26.2 mile course, noticeably when you were wobbling around the finishers ground, while your now stiffen legs, strained back muscle, shoulders and forearms were screaming in agony after a couple of hours worth of strenuous exercise, and trying to reach the snack table to nourish back your body and replace some nutrient loss with big heaps of fruits, water, yoghurt, cookies, bagels and some sweet goodies. Remind you, I’m only in my late twenties but I felt closer to a geriatric body of an eighty year old by only ... read more

Day two in Atlanta, and I feel as though I need a truckload of coffee to be nearly as perky as all of these other marketers. Whew! Seriously people. The day started out early, but since I was so tired and dragging a little, I managed to be running a bit late. And getting turned around trying to walk to the conference hotel didn't help! With some assistance at my own hotel, I was able to find it and make it to the opening ceremonies with no trouble. Cheesy music started the melodramatics, but the morning was actually really a good one. We started with a little video that detailed some of the problems that legal marketers have, and it was pretty hilarious. I won't bore you with the details, since it's only funny to people ... read more
