Today is our final day on the road. Starting from Panama City we stayed along the coast. Much of the area is very built up with low and high rise condos, townhouses and shopping areas. Definitely a haven for tourists. We did discover one older area which had a smaller beach community type of atmosphere. It is likely the homes on the beach in that area had been destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Newer homes had been built nearer the shore and were built on stilts like others we had seen before. We arrived in Pensecola which is a very old settlement. It is the first to be settled in America by the Spaniards. The neighbourhood that Bill & Debi live in is known as North Hill and there are many older well kept homes. Bill & Debi's house was built in 1901 and is documented as one of the historic homes in the area. Total mileage for trip is 10,311 kilometres.
