timeshare

our first week at Hilton Head was spent in this unit

each of the 3 timeshare units has been well equipped and very comfortable

oysters to go

after eating our fill we arranged to buy a 'bucket' of oysters to enjoy back at the unit.. they were a bargain, $12 for 40.

ferry to Daufuskie Island

the 3 mile ferry ride to this small island just south of Hilton Head takes you to a very different world - not touristy at all (apart from day trippers like us)

3 years ago, at about this time, we passed by Daufuskie on our way south

oysterman's house

oystering used to be the big industry here but now the former homes stand empty as the oystering died off...we were fortunate to have a resident guide with a 7 generation connection to the island

"Take me Home, Country Roads"
Great album of scenery and memories. When I read, "Blue Ridge Mtns" & "Shenandoah" it immediately brought John Denver's Country Roads song to mind - I think his lyrics refer to the Shenandoah River. Quite a beautiful area.
