June 12th arrival to Miami.
We woke up from a crappy nights sleep due to our fire alarm in our room going off regularly throughout the night. We packed up and headed towards the reception so we could check out, and after talking to a guy we kinda had spoken to over the previous days we told him we were heading to Miami south beach. Our luck was in. He was actually driving his German friend down there. So in we got into this car with people we barely knew and hoped we would get there. We got there, just about after some extremely erratic driving and he dropped us right outside the Miami hostel. We said our thanks and headed in. We were 3hours early for check in so left our large bags in the luggage room and proceeded to the first all you can eat buffet we could find. The heat at this point was getting pretty unbearable. At least on the beach there was a breeze. Here in the city there was very little. We found a very posh all you can eat Italian restaurant for $10 each which was a nice change from the other all
you can eats we have been to. We headed back to check in, where we would get our room. We were staying in a four person room but there was only us two in there. We headed down into the social area to where we met a girl from Manchester and various other people. Soon after we all headed to the beach to where Rich and I got ripped into for bringing our tennis ball but who had the last laugh when they wanted to play with us. As comical it is playing catch in the sea with Rich, it was even better playing with a massive black French man who had the hand eye co-ordination of a dead sloth. He was trying to throw the ball with a shot put action. It was pretty funny to all involved. I don't think he liked it when I pinged him on the chest a couple of times. The girl from Manchester told us she got stung by a jelly fish a few days ago and had to do the all embarrassing home remedy. She pissed on herself ha. Apparently she was struggling to walk through pain of this sting. After teaching this French guy all the English swear words and him teaching us rude French phrases we all headed back to get ready for predrinks/the first Miami heat vs Oklahoma thunder basket ball final. This hostel has organised nights out so you can get to know a crowd when you head out into the clubs/bars. When we all headed out we went to a bar called automatic slims which was $10 to get in but after it was $1 beers all night. Can't complain too much. To all lads out there, you need to go to this bar. The girls behind the bar are absolutely incredible. My future wife definitely works there. They were wearing next to nothing and all tongues were out hanging from all the lads. Google this bar. It's worth a look. We caught the end of the heat match, and found a group of Aussie girls to hang out with. We also ran into a guy from Derby which was pretty cool. Good to chat to someone who understands sarcasm. The Americans don't have a clue most the time. Once the bar got old we decided it would be a good idea to go to the beach. Little did we know that they close the beach
at 12pm. It was around
4am at this time. So we got our southern comfort and sat at the entrance looking lost watching the police eye us up constantly. We called it a night and headed back to the room. As far as we knew we were the only two people staying in our room. There had been nobody in all day so we assumed we were alone. We were very wrong. After drunkenly exclaiming pretty loud "so much room for activities" (step brothers quote) and jumping around lungeing and what not, it actually came to light that the other two beds had large lumps in. We shone our phone to see what it was and looking back at us were two pretty confused people. This was a man and women around 45 years old. We quickly apologised, jumped into our very rickety bunk bed and put our heads down for the night. This was done in absolute hysterics.
