Yard work in progress

I’m back on the internet!!! I was up and out with Winston at 7 and we took a very long walk around the Pine’s section of this huge campground (I am in the Sun section). The Pines is across CR 44, a very busy road. I was right in my assumption that this was once upon a time a separate campground. It just looks and feels different. The sites are bigger, more trees and the roads are a little wider. It would be a great place to be if you were with a bunch of friends, but it is a long way from the activity hub. The office was open when I got back, and once I told them my issues with the free internet, they gave me a coupon to use Tengo for free for the week I am here. Great signal, fast speed, and skype might even be supported. Yippie! Time to catch up on Farmville for sure! Pay some bills, and look and see what’s going on with real estate in Monmouth County.
I heard from Kathy E – she is loving Manatee Springs State Park, lots of good photo opportunities for
her there, but definite lack of cell signal and internet. She said it took her 6 hours to drive her 120 miles as well, including some stops, welcome to the wonderful world of driving in rural FL.
I really took a look at my glasses this morning. I had my eyes examined just a year ago. My prescription only changed a fraction, and the MD said no need to get new ones for such a slight change. This past week I have been cleaning them and cleaning them and cleaning them, so I figured it really was time to either go for another exam, or get that prescription made up. I held the glasses up to the light, and there is 2 dings on the left lens right smack in the middle of the lens. No wonder I keep trying to clean them. I think I will go for another exam, just in case they have changed over the past 12 months.
Yesterday I noticed my neighbor to the right, Albert from WV, huge Montana 5
th wheel, was raking the live oak dead leaves from around his area. He bagged them and carted them away. When he got
done it looked so very neat. The wind I had in Wauchula on Sunday they experienced here as well, resulting in 2 inches of dead leaves everywhere. This morning, neighbor on the other side, Al and Sue from MI raked their leaves to the edge of the street. Now, here I am in the middle looking like shit. So, I asked Albert if I could borrow his rake, and he told me he had intended to rake my leaves today! I beat him to it. I put on my purple winter gloves, and raked for a good hour, making 5 piles around my rig. Al kept saying someone from maintenance was going to drop off bags. Albert came out with a few bags, and we bagged what he had. Maintenance arrived with some bags, and the 3 of us were just bagging fools. We attracted a lot of attention, and, since I am not a ‘resident’ everyone was amazed that I was cleaning up. I kept telling them I had been on sand and leaves for so long, I just wanted to see the grass. We filled 18 bags, picture herein. Al loaded them in the bed of his HUGE
Winston and Linus
taken as Ginnie was unhooking from inside her rig looking outside watching us work. Good shot of the 2 of them. I forgot to include it in yesterday's blog pickup and together with Al they hauled them down to the dumpster.
Would you believe I have about 50 people read my blogs. I think that’s incredible! I am thrilled. Please, give me some comments, what do you want to see more of, less of, etc. I love writing, and do find it easier to write about people and food, but, please, let me know what you want to read!!!! I can take criticism, too, I think……..It just feels so good to be back on the internet. I was getting tired of crocheting – made 3 hats, working on a plant holder for my herb garden and an uninteresting baby blanket.
Remember all those bug bites I had a while back, that I got at the FMCA RV Rally while walking around with Ginnie. Well, it took 2 weeks for them to go away My legs and feet looked like I had chickenpox, but they finally went away. They’re back. While sitting outside on Sunday in all that wind, they found me again, and while I don’t have as many, they are as equally itchy. I never thought they would have gotten me in all that wind, so I went out with just sandals on, no bug spray. Idiot.
Tonight was the night to make my sirloin steak. That means getting the grill out of the storage compartment. That means putting out my awning because the awning support covers the pod door. Putting out this old awning by myself is daunting. But, I did it today with ease. There has been no need to put it in and out on this trip, as the sun has always been in the right position so as not to shine on the ‘door’ side of the rig. It looks a little ridiculuous out now, as that side is again shady, but I am going to give it a good airing, and enjoy my mini Weber. Good thing I bought a small bag of charcoal, (the self lighting stuff) as the half bag I had in the pod had lost its self igniting ability. I mixed some old in with a few new pieces and it worked like a charm. My steak was awesome. I also made sautéed spinach (garlic oil and 3 large cloves of garlic. Winston sat at my feet while I ate, he got a small piece of steak. He’s been good here, as I haven’t gone out. He spends most of the day leashed outside, and continues to bark at dogs passing by, but not as hard or as long as he has in the past. Dogs bark, what can I say. He has made some new friends, 8 month old Daisy lives behind us. She’s looks like a little shiny black mop with a white spot on her head. She’s a designer dog, dachshund/poodle on one side and shitzu on the other. She really is cute, but has a yippy little bark. All she wants to do is play with Winston. When they are both on their leashes outside, he can reach her, but he sits 2 inches beyond where she can reach and just looks at her. Brat.
My neighbors continue to be wonderful, they stop to include me in all their adventures, but nothing has intrigued me just yet. Tomorrow night is the parkwide talent show, and I will attend that for sure. It is some kind of fund raiser for something the residents what here, I will find out more tomorrow.
Kat out.

The Itching
Hi Kat - do you think the bugs bites might be fire ants. I have had trouble with them in the past. They leave itchy spots, especially on feet and ankles. We avoid letting towels of other beach stuff stay on the ground (even on pool pavement). Also I watch where I walk. Use socks if going off the path. I was told that Adolph's Meat Tenderizer offers some relief. Good luck.
