So what do you do when you around 2 hours to take in a few highlights of Washington?

Head down to the mall, of course!

Thankfully it has nothing to do with shopping. Rather it is the huge public area bordered by the Capitol and the Washington Monument/the mirror pool (think Forrest Gump).

If you have another 3 weeks you may get a chance to take in the vast array of freebies including the Smithsonian Institute, the Air and Space Museum, the Natural History Museum, art and sculpture galleries, war memorials (they love to celebrate their wars here)…the list goes on.

A word to the wise - bring your sunnies…apart from the Smithsonian castle, every public bulding is white granite.

Did you see Bill?
Glad you arrived safely in DC! It is a magnificent city ... I was there mid summer and nearly fainted on the steps of the Capitol - it was SO hot and humid! Cheers Nicola
