I better read up on what to do in DC!
We arrived in Washington DC around 12:00 via Airtran Airlines. We followed the signs for the metro and knew we had to board the yellow line to get to our hotel which was the L’Enfant Plaza. There were two options on the yellow line at the metro station. One was to Huntington and the other was to Ft. Totten. We realized it was not the Huntington side we wanted, so we went back down the escalator and changed sides. The yellow line took us right to the hotel (except to the opposite side of the platform-just had to go over to the other side of the platform). This took us through a food court and then we saw the elevator which took us right into the hotel lobby. Very convenient.

Check in was very lengthy since we arrived early and it was too early to check in. We did complete the registration however and our bags were stored for us. It started raining so we really didn’t have much choice, but to sit in the lobby for 3 hours. Fortunately, for us it was a very comfortable place to lounge. Our hotel room had a little balcony and

a view of the Potomac River. The rooms are only located on the upper floors of the building and the other floors are business offices. The inner ring of rooms all face the pool area which is on the 12th floor and the other rooms all face to the outside.

Our dinner tonight was at the Foggy Bottom Brew Pub located in the lobby level of the hotel. We also met up with my nephew who works at a law office nearby. The fondue appetizer was great. We all also ordered the steak special. It was a nice place to have a drink and visit and to catch up with my nephew who I hadn’t seen in years.
