I'm beginning my studies into global impoverishment in countries are not as well off as nations like the United States or UK. These countries have citizens that are almost universally poor and live in substandard living conditions, or have clusters of large poverty interspersed between otherwise relatively advanced cities. With my class I'll be studying these countries, determining what contributes to the poverty, why it continues, and what can be done to help - on top of what is already being done, and if that is helping in the first place.
