When we left Ogden Utah this morning we were treated to 4 lanes of rush hour heading South. They do it up in style here and we settled into the HOV lane at 130 KPH . Lots of cars moving past us in the fast lane to our right but these guys are the most courteous drivers. They actually move out of the way and get the same treatment in return. What a concept.

The weather was great and the scenery and roads turned interesting once we hit US #6, lots of twists and turns and absolutely incredible scenery that segued into the Moab desert that has to be one of my favourite places on earth. last time I went through here on a motorcycle there was a record heat wave and it was a balmy 107 F. You tend to miss some of the finer points. Today was sunny and temperate and we all enjoyed the beauty. We even stopped and spent some time there.

We are getting used to each others riding styles and the pack is already pretty tight moving through traffic, the bikes are acting sluggish to the throttle but that is due to the fact that

Riding late into the night
we are over 6,200 feet above sea level. I could only crank out 150 KPH at that altitude as the jets are set for sea level. These bikes can usually push out around a hundred miles per hour (160 kph)) Not that we travel that fast as we seem to settle into traffic at about 110 to 120 KPH on the open areas.

We even have come up with a pretty good fuelling system where we all pull nose in to one pump and pass the hose around. We average about 3-4 gallons per 5 US gallon tank. Once we get further South we will try and keep the tanks above 50%
Blane saved the morning in Prevo Utah when he jumped off his bike and shut off the unattended fuel hose in a Suburban that had pumped 2 gallons on the ground before he grabbed it and shut it off. Not very comfortable standing in 2 gallons of high test

We finished off the day chasing a thundershower but we managed to ride out of it before we got too wet. My new high tech gear kept me dry and is a pleasure to ride in,I did not know
