Well to answer the previous questions all my amtrak trains were on time. Even a little bit early. Which made for an excellent trip. Was able to save on expenses by packing my own meals. I brough bagels, peanut butter, bananas, and soda. I didn't spend more than $10 on train food.
I took the Chatsworth train to Los Angeles and not much to report there. It was a 20 minute trip and nothing much happened. Didn't really talk to anyone and this part of the trip is not memorable to me.
So I can't write much more than that.
The big chunk of the trip was Los Angeles to Oregon on the Starlight Express. It goes up the coast to Seattle but my stop was in Eugene, Oregon. I found out while I was waiting for the train that a) it is notrious for delays and b)you have to get a boarding pass as all seats are assigned.
On the train I was surrounded by fellow passengers who were all going to Eugene as well. I don't know of that was a case of luck or good planning on the part of Amtrak. But it was welcome to
Amtrekking
The Amtrek Surfliner Train have a seatmate who was going as far as me.
There was also a fellow going to San Jose that played that Ukulele and that was pleasant to here him play. In the station he played Feliz Navidad and that cheered up everyone's spirits a bit traveling on Christmas Day. Yes, the train was packed! Absolutely, which I was not expecting at all. Now I know that really always, if you can, while traveling get your tickets ahead of time.
I did make friends with the people I talked to on the train and had a great time. The guys to the right of me were very social and ended up knowing everyone in the lounge car by the time I got my chance to sit down. I spent a lot of my time trying to get people to play Apples to Apples.
Everyone was so different on the train that it made for an interesting trip. I spoke wit the a lady from Canada in the Lounge Car and we discussesed Politics and Obama. The seatmate on my right played music. One of my neighbors got very drunk and the next day had a hangover. The
Los Angeles
Welcome to Los Angeles Station lady on the left of me, we got along so well, that she payed for my breakfast the next day. I hope to see here again when I come back to Los Angeles.
That's what I like most about my Startlight experience. I know that since we all came from the same origin point, Los Angeles, it is likely that I will see some of these people again. I hope that they keep in touch with me.
I am planning on posting some video later of Santa Barbara, I'm just having some technical difficulties.
There will be more video to come now that I have a Flip Camera. I want to take you on a tour of Florence, OR.
