In the summer of 2008 friends and I boarded the vessel Sea Jay out of Port Hueneme CA at 3 AM for a Channel Islands fishing excursion. Everyone gets a bunk to crawl into and go to sleep. The boat left the dock at 4 AM and after a brief stop for live bait we head out to Santa Cruz island. We arrived about 6:30 AM to a secret fishing location. Everyone woke up, had some coffee and breakfast and started fishing. The ocean was fairly calm and in the early afternoon the sun came out. We caught calico bass, white sea bass, rockfish, bonita and more. It was an awesome day.
