Started the day out with a run again. I ran through a cemetery and down to the riverside again. I intended to run 6 miles, but did 4 once again I was scared by the homeless people on the trail. After breakfast we were off to do one more brake checking at the Bri and Pete. The brakes were no longer squealing and working well, which is a good thing as we were headed out on a long journey to Vegas the next day. Wanting to see more sights we took the kids to Lady Bird Johnson a grove of coastal redwoods. Tim and I had viewed this majestic sight when we came here in March. Today we travel U. S. 101 The Redwood Highway to Sounds of the Sea RV Park in Trinidad, Ca. Nice drive through some of the old Redwoods and along some of the coastline. On a seafood restaurant adventure we ran across several private and commercial fishing boats moored out in the harbor. We also found the restaurant we were looking for. The Seascape located on the docks. View was great, service was average, food was ok but prices were very high. It was a long but very scenic ride today. Had 300 miles to cover and most of the time it was very twisty. We took the Shorline Rd (CA-1) north which follows, of course, the Pacific coast. The wind coming off the water made it so cold we had to stop and dress in full leathers. I forgot to bring a sweater for Piper so we closed the holes around the carrier the best we could and she hunkered down in the bedding inside. It was an absolutely gorgeous day though. 100% sunshine. We stopped in a little town call Gualala (pronounced Walala) and ate breakfast at Bones Restaurant. We've been really lucky on finding great little cafes and diners since we got to California. Denny's is a distant memory but they are everywhere around here. ... read more
