Over 800 miles
2014 and the girls are on another adventure!!

We continue our journey down the Pacific coast. This year we begin in San Francisco.

So that we could get the most out of our short stay in San Fran...and not have to drive over the likes of Lombard street, we took a tour bus. Chilly Willy was our driver. We were either laughing or crying with his insanely ridicules jokes. The tour took us from one end of the city to the other. Past the Golden Gate Bridge, through China town, around Lombard street, little Italy, Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf...and of course Haight Ashbury.

It took us 50 years, but we finally made it. There is still a "Make Love, Not War" vibe to the neighborhood. As we walked down the street, a certain aroma clung to the air, "Purple Haze" echoed from the store fronts, and ladies "with flowers in their hair" sauntered by.

We also spent a good part of the day on the other side of the Golden Gate bridge in Sausalito as well. It's a real artsy community with quaint shops selling everything from penny candy to expensive antiques. It was nice to just

We were rock-in and roll-in across the city
sit in the sun watching the San Francisco coastline with hundreds of sailboats racing by.

To end our day on a high note...no we did not return to Haight Ashbury...we went to Fisherman's Wharf for some beer and seafood.

We did miss one important event while in San Francisco, The PRIDE parade. Who knew! While parade participants were everywhere, we decided to skip the actual parade festivities, where clothing was optional.
