Today Flat Stanley visited Angel Island State Park, also known as the Ellis Island of the West.
I am a volunteer on the island and Stanley tagged along today.

There are beautiful flowers all over the island. Here is a picture of calla lillies.

This plant is called PRIDE OF MADERA. Large purple plumes bloom from March through May.

Here we are near the NIKE MISSLE site with Alcatraz and the city of San Francisco behind us.

This is Chuck. He was waiting to give a tour to a group of students visiting the island.

Camp Reynolds was used during the Civil War. Here we are in the bakery in front of the original oven which still works!

The Victorian House at Camp Reynolds has been restored by volunteers. This is the parlor as it might have looked back in the 1880's.

Before Angel Island was a park it was used as a military base. There is a jail on the island in case any soldiers became rowdy!
