Day 140 (Monday 07/09/09, NJJ) Labour Day USA
Had a look at the Route 66 tac at the visitor centre. Left Kingman for California on the I40 West. Got excited when we passed the 'Welcome to California' roadsign. Drove alongside the Mojave National Preserve. Had a wander around 'Dollar Tree' and I had to buy some bits 'n' bobs to Jamie's frustration. In Barstow we stopped at a Tanger Outlet where I bought my first pair of Nine West shoes of this trip. The campsite we planned to stay at for the night was much further away than expected and then turned out to be closed so for the third nght in a row we had to check into a motel - Motel 6 in San Bernardino. Dinner at Zendejas Mexican restaurant next door. One good thing about staying in motels is that I can hang my wedding dress up rather than having to fold it and leave it on the 'trunk' of the car. It's been a nuisance having to carry it around and look after it.
