Dropped Erin off at work then headed south along the coast to sight-see. Checked out the port at Long Beach then drove down to Newport Beach. Couple of shopping stops then picked up Erin and went to the La Playita Mexican restaurant at Hermosa Beach for dinner.

Korean Bell
Donated for USA's bi-centennial. Remember it from Gabriel Byrne's film "Usual Suspects"? (See the shadow - cute).

Long Beach Port entrance
Long Beach port is massive, with long, skinny breakwaters forming a narrow entrance.

Point Fermin
The southern-most point before the port. I was taken by the size and splendour of its many trees.

Old Pandanus
Smaller leaves and much bigger trunks than our varieties.

Battleship USS Iowa
Now a tourist attraction and an events venue.

Queen Mary
A hotel/tourist attraction within a small breakwater enclosure. And the dome that used to house Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose" (now in a Wyoming Museum).
