In the morning we checked out the room and headed for 'the OC' baby! First stop was Newport. We tried to drive around the houses but they were mainly gated communities and so it was hard to see the likes of Julie Cooper walking around. Although, some of the views from the top of Newport were amazing. We headed on to Laguna beach which was much of the same and stopped at 'Ruby's diner' for a lunch of various burgers and fries. The food was surprisingly good!

With our hotel for the next few nights already booked, we battled on toward San Diego and the 'Seven Seas Best Western'. Ollie and Dale went to do a bit more shopping at yet another shopping mall, while Mark played in the pool. We took a quick drive into San Diego that evening looking for a cheap restaurant; unsuccessfull, we settled for a terrible chinese near our hotel. NEVER AGAIN

The next day we headed into 'downtown' San Diego proper. We parked the car in an all day car park and set out to explore the city. As with most western cities, there actually isn't that much to explore. There was the new but old 'gaslamp quarter', conference centre and the new Petco Stadium; but pass that, you really could have been in any city in the world. After a bit more shopping from Dale, we found a posh restaurant serving very cheap beer at happy hour prices, and settled in for the afternoon looking ever so slightly out-of-place.

In the evening we hit the cinema by the hotel to watch 'body of lies', and snacked on various items picked up from the local supermarket.
