soooo sleepy Day 2? Monday January 18th 2010, 2:50am EST
Still feels like day 1 but technically it is a day later…yaaawwnn. I’m in LA now waiting to board my flight to Sydney. My plane was delayed by about an hour so now it won’t be leaving until 1am west coast time 4am your time! I forced myself to stay awake on the last flight and now I’m wondering why! I never drink coffee but this seems like the perfect time to start so I bought a very overpriced Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino (the bottled refrigerated kind not the fluffy fresh frozen kind) and a croissant (the processed packaged kind not the fresh toasty kind). Hopefully that should get me through another hour or so!
On my last flight I got to watch “Fame,” which I had never seen. Although I never went to a crazy high school conservatory, some parts did remind me of my youth from Act 2 (first acting school) to the arts at the Academy of the Holy Angels! So, cheesy as it may have been I did enjoy it and half wish I did actually attend the New York Performing Arts School (I believe that’s the name)! Although it was interrupted once for our pilot to tell us the Jets were winning…stupid football and weird football fans who actually cheered out loud…on the plane…while watching Fame. There were a few questionable passengers however who may or may not have been a little tipsy so at least they had an excuse.
The movie experience started a conversation between me and the man next to me who didn’t have an artsy high school experience like myself and wasn’t impressed with the rapping, dancing teenagers. His name is Eddie, he is from Montclair, works in Advertising and was on his way to LA for a commercial shoot. He also happens to be the voice on all the Perdue chicken commercials! Not the weird bald man who is friends with the chickens (although Eddie is bald) but pay attention to any Perdue commercials you see/hear in the future and listen for the voice of Eddie.
Anyways, we got to talking, I told him I was a jobless, singer/songwriter moving to Australia for 3 months and he told me about some of the music options within Advertising. I guess there are these companies that specifically write music for movies and TV…his suggestion was to try to get a job answering phones at one of these places and see what happens. So, he gave me his e-mail address, said he’d talk to some of the people he knows in that area and to e-mail him in 3 months (and no he wasn’t hitting on me, I have experience with 45 year old married men hitting on me so I now know the difference)! Oh and I also mentioned I was a professional babysitter and will be free to watch his 2 little boys in April I know…I’m going to be babysitting till the day I die!
So that’s that for now…now I sit and wait and then finally SLEEP for about 14 hours! See you in Sydney!
