Today we planned to use up some of our CityPass tickets for some of the attractions in Hollywood. We were going to have a bit more of a lie in but as we were so tired last night and ended up falling asleep at around 9 we woke up at about 6:30 anyway! We updated the blog for the previous days events and uploaded all of the photos which took a while, and by the time we had done that and got ready to go out it was about 9. We went to have some breakfast before heading down to Hollywood Boulevard on the metro.
Once there, we went over to Madame Tussauds. There's not really much point in going into any detail about this, I'm sure that you all know what this involves! It was very similar to the London one if any of you have ever been, although there were quite a few interactive parts, where you could pose with the waxworks with various props, which was quite fun!
Once we had finished at Madame Tussauds, we went over to Mcdonalds to use their free wifi on the netbook as we had arranged to speak to our
parents on Skype at around dinner time (although we didn't actually eat there). Craig's mom was on there first so we chatted to her for a bit. After realising that Emma's parents would probably be on a bit later, we went to get some dinner from 'In-N-Out Burger'. We got a double cheeseburger each and split some 'Animal' fries (an item on their "secret menu" that Emma found out from Tash last year - basically fries covered in cheese, onions and their "secret" sauce). We couldn't even finish it between us as the burgers were huge, but delicious!
We then went back to Mcdonalds to use the wifi again to speak to Emma's parents. After this, we walked over to the Hollywood Museum, which we also had a ticket for in our CityPass. We found this pretty interesting, there was a lot of movie memorabilia, such as props and costumes. A lot of it was from more of the older, classic Hollywood movies such as those with Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Audrey Hepburn, etc, however there were some more recent items such as costumes used in Twilight, Transformers, and Glee. There was also the original sets used for Hannibal
Lecter's jail cell and the corridor outside which was pretty creepy!
Once out of the museum, our feet were starting to hurt after being on them all day yesterday and today so we decided that we would head back to the travelodge and have more of a relaxed afternoon. On our way back, as it was really hot today and we were feeling a bit thirsty, we started craving pineapple so we went into a supermarket on the hunt for one! We found one, but then realised that we would have to buy a knife to cut it up, so instead we settled for some pineapple juice and some ice lollies!
We got back to the room and went on the netbook for a bit. We had realised that after we get back from Las Vegas in a couple of weeks, we are back in Los Angeles for a couple of days, and the Best Value Inn that we had booked for those two days was quite far from a Metro stop (especially when dragging cases behind us and carrying bags) so we looked into cancelling it to change it to a different one. Thankfully, there was no
cancellation fee as we had booked it on Expedia, so we rebooked those dates for a 'Super 8' motel in Hollywood which was much closer to a metro stop.
Craig was starting to get hungry by about 6pm but wanted something relatively healthy so we looked into where the nearest Subway was. Google showed us that the nearest Subway seemed to be a short metro stop away, so we headed over. However, once Craig spotted the BBQ pulled pork sandwich on the menu he decided that he would have that, as he had seen it advertised online weeks ago and had been craving one ever since. Apparently it was "everything I dreamed it would be and more". As he didn't take a picture of it, here is a link to a picture of it: http://i.huffpost.com/gen/324378/thumbs/s-SUBWAY-BBQ-PULLED-PORK-large300.jpg. He also had American hot sauce on it and although it was very very hot it was still very very nice. Emma picked up a roast chicken sub and planned on eating it later as she wasn't particularly hungry, although it is still in the fridge now and she's still not really feeling hungry!
We are now just watching a bit of of
American tv (their version of 'Total Wipeout' is HILARIOUS!) and will probably have another early night as we are feeling tired again and we have another day at Universal planned tomorrow.
