I started the first day of my trip in a familiar location; 50 California Street. It is my sincere hope that when I return from my trip our new lobby will be open and I can sit on one of the new lobby rocks and contemplate how much I enjoyed my trip. I left work and took the first train of the trip. How can someone who hates Bart so much commit to a ten-day train trip? I took the retched Bay Area Rapid Transit to Rockridge and Ben and Nick’s. I needed to check-in a few pre-vacation beers. For those who are counting the number starts at 540. How many beers will I check in before I return? Friday November 15, 2013 Our Amtrak California Zephyr pulled into Emeryville Station (nr. SanFrancisco) ahead of time concluding a memorable three-day, three night trip from Buffalo, Ohio, Indiana to Chicago across Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada and northern California. We truly travelled through the heartland of America-looking in backyards, back roads, and the back of beyond. If you have never tried train travel in North America you are in for a delightful surprise. The sleeper cars were cozy but accommodating, meals on board more than competent (and included in the price if you booked a sleeper) and service absolutely outstanding. Service staff couldn’t do enough to make your trip enjoyable and comfortable- they added a truly personal touch.
