After driving through the endless straight streets of Nevada we arrived in Death Valley. Besides viewing the amazing landscape we visited Scotties Castle, a villa which has a Moorish feel. As interesting as the villa is, as interesting is the story about it. Walter Scott told people that he has a gold mine in Death Valley and he’s looking for investors. Albert Johnson, a Chicago insurance executive believed him and lent him some money. Actually Scotty never had a gold mine. After visiting Scottie in Death Valley, Albert found out that there isn’t a gold mine. During this visit, they got friends and Albert. Albert planed to build a holiday residence in Death Valley and needed someone who looks the building. Scottie did this job and was all the time there. When visitors came, he told them it is Scotties castle, which in fact was the castle of Albert Johnson…
