Start:El Capitan State Park Ziel: Carpinteria State Park Tageskilometer: 56.8 Höchstgeschwindigkeit: 51.1 Gesamtkilometer:7'125.2. Bin ja ge... read more

Day 15 - Avila/Pismo KOA to Carpinteria State Beach, Distance Travelled - 114 miles Nice quiet day today as we wound down the RV leg of the tour. Lazy lay in once again meant that when we got up, most of the Avila KOA had already left so at least the showers were empty. From what we saw it was a nice little camp, ideal for a 1 or 2 day stopover if in transit elsewhere but I don't think I could stay there for more than that. So we hit the 101 and Highway 1 for a 100 mile stretch, through some lovely scenery again although now we were obviously getting into wine country and there were no hairpin bends. It was a pretty uneventful trip with only one small smell of burning rubber which ... read more

A few days here on yet another job with five of my friends. For those of you who don't know the place, it is about 14 miles south of the world class city of Santa Barbara. It is a typical California beach town and a much cheaper place to stay at and explore the area than its neighbor to the north. I saw a Rabobank on the corner which reflects the Dutch heritage of many of the people who have businesses here in the cut flower growing areas. Today and probably for the rest of the week it is misty and cloudy over the mountain range overlooking the town. But in the fall and winter for the most part it is a nice place to visit and gambol on the beach. Summer is usually overcast and ... read more

Today wasn't too long a drive. We headed towards Carpinteria via Santa Barbra where we got to chill out on the beach and look around the shops. The going things seemed to be these like peddle car things. Barb and I hired a 2 person one but other people hired ones that held about 8 people. You had like bicycle peddles and it was pretty hilarious. Good workout. We went up and down the boardwalk and around the streets for several hours. There wasn't too much going on for the last night on tour. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, a few drinks but it was not a big or late night. ... read more
